Today's post is sonic! He is NOT considered better than Mario by you guys.
Basic History
Sonic The Hedgehog is a 2-d side-scroller game released by sega in 1991. It was designed for the Sega Genesis home console. It was developed by Yuji Naka and designed by Hirokazu Toyoda.
Gameplay
Sonic the Hedgehog is a 2d side scrolling game that centers around Sonic's ability to run fast and jump high. Levels include obstacles like pits, spikes and springs. The main enemies are robot soldiers serving Dr. Robotnik. The goal is to reach the end of the level while collecting rings as a mean to not lose lives. You only lose a life if you have no rings.You can receive extra lives by collecting 100 rings.
The game is split into six principal zones, and one final or "Boss" zone. Each zone has it's own visual theme and obstacles. After defeating the sixth principal zone, you face the final zone, where you must fight Robotnik and destroy his machine. After you destroy the machine, you win the game.

- Sonic was developed to rival Mario
- Sonic was the game that established the Sega Genesis as a prominent competitor in the 16-bit era.
- The Sonic team had to code a new mechanic to get Sonic to roll.
